POTTSTOWN, PA — Every year a group brewmasters from some of the region's most acclaimed breweries gather together to present an open panel discussion that is widely anticipated by all craft beer aficionados.
They call it the Meeting of the Malts and this year the round table will convene at Sly Fox Brewing Company's 30,000 sf production facility in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
The topic of this year's Meeting of the Malts will be Pennsylvania Lagers, new and old. The panel will engage one another in a conversational dialog about the popular beer style that was born in Pennsylvania.
"The Keystone State has certainly contributed significantly to the ongoing success of Lagered beer," says Brian O'Reilly, brewmaster at Sly Fox Brewing Company.
 The Meeting of the Malts panel includes O'Reilly, Victory Brewing's Bill Covaleski and Lancaster Brewing's Bill Moore. The distinguished panel will also feature a special guest of honor. legendary, fourth-generation brewmaster, Bill Moeller.
Moeller has been both actively and peripherally involved in the brewing industry for some 64 years. He will speak about his extensive history in the industry as well as his family's involvement in a fascinating part of many local breweries. His beers have received medals in national and international competitions. In 2013, Consumer Reports selected his Brooklyn Lager as one of the best lagers in America and in 1996 rated it as the best beer in America. During the long course of his career he has written extensively on the scientific aspects of brewing and beer, along with the history and pairing of beer with the proper foods and occasionally hosting sit down beer dinners for the Wells Fargo Wealth Management Group.
The group of experts will be moderated by news anchor Paul Kurtz of KYW Newsradio 1060.
The Meeting of the Malts event, on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, is open to anyone who wants to learn more about beer.
