Popular Lawn and Tailgate Game
KAN JAM TOURNAMENT TO FEATURE 120 TEAMS

POTTSTOWN, PA – One thing almost as popular as Sly Fox Brewing Company's delicious portfolio of authentic and original beers is Kan Jam™. Kan Jam is an outdoor game for four players that is sweeping the nation with weekend warriors voraciously playing pick-up games on suburban lawns, parking lot tailgates and anywhere else they can find room.
Kan Jam was invented in upstate New York and has since grown to become the go-to diversion in that region, especially popular among area college students. Several years ago, Sly Fox adopted the game as a way to effectively promote their line of craft beer cans. In 2011, the southeastern Pennsylvania brewery held their first Kan Jam Tournament, and, on September 27 they will host 120 teams at the brewery in Pottstown, PA as part of the 2014 Can Jam Free Music Festival. One of the first craft breweries to heavily invest in the use of cans over bottles, Sly Fox Brewing Company currently cans eleven varieties from their portfolio of authentic and original beers.
"People who love craft beer love games, especially lawn games," says Corey Reid, Sly Fox Beer Ambassador. "Sly Fox loved the idea of a game with can in the name, even if it's spelled with a K."
Kan Jam is played much like horseshoes with teammates on either end of the court; pins are replaced by 2' tall, open-topped cans (kans), and instead of shoes players toss a flying disc. The main difference, though, is that teammates help one another score points by deflecting the disc into the kan.
In the past four years the game has practically become synonymous with drinking Sly Fox beer while hanging out out-of-doors. In the backyard, before Eagles and Phillies games, at the beach–even at the Sly Fox Tastin' Room on practically every night of the week, people are digging Kan Jam and Sly Fox beer cans.
In fact, Sly Fox has modified Kan Jam's official rules to include the provision that participants can only use one hand to deflect, and must always play with a can–preferably a Sly Fox beer can–in their hands.
"Every year the tournament has grown," adds Reid, who services accounts throughout Sly Fox's distribution area and always travels with a Kan Jam set in his car. "We could have had 120 teams last year, but managing that many teams prior to a massive music festival was an issue."
The brewery solved the issue this year with some reorganization and will welcome 240 players for a 9:00am start (festival goers are welcome to come early and spectate) for what is the largest known Kan Jam Tournament in the entire world! The winning duo in the competition will be handsomely rewarded with not only a year's worth of bragging rights, but also their combined team's weight in Sly Fox canned beer.
Live music at the family-friendly (21+ identification is required to purchase beer) Can Jam Festival starts at 2:00 p.m. and several food trucks and other activities are planned to make Sly Fox's tribute to the can a very memorable day.
