Sly Fox Signed as Official Beer Sponsor for Philly Classic
Philadelphia, PA—May 13, 2016—The City of Philadelphia is preparing to host the annual premiere cycling event in the region and one of the best races in the country, the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic, on June 5 and Sly Fox Brewing Company was named Official Beer Sponsor for the event.
Both Men's and Women's professional competitions are scheduled for the first Sunday in June, and the race atmosphere is always festive and fun. Men's UCI1.1 race starts at 8am and the Women's World Tour starts immediately after at 12:30pm. Both races follow the same course with multiple laps around the city.
Thousands of spectators come out to watch the race that starts at the top of "The Wall" on Lyceum Avenue in Roxborough. There are a lot of great places to view the races but none as carnival-esque as Lemon Hill where race fans, bike clubs, cyclists and onlookers gather in throngs to enjoy multiple vantage points of the exciting race.
Sly Fox Brewing Company will be hosting a beer tent on Lemon Hill, in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, from 10am-3pm on race day. The cycling-friendly brewery will be serving crowd favorites like SRT Ale, Pikeland Pils and Helles Golden Lager on draft.
Additionally, Sly Fox Brewing Company will be offering specials throughout the city with an emphasis on the pubs and bars along Main Street in Manayunk—a popular place to watch the races.
Sly Fox will also be presenting, for the second year in a row, a very special race viewing party at In Riva in East Falls.
"We're working with taprooms throughout Manayunk and all around Philadelphia to really show the city how committed we are to supporting the Philly Classic," said Mark Weinmann, Director of Sales at Sly Fox, headquartered in Montgomery County. "Bikes and beer go together and Sly Fox is an extremely bike-friendly brewery."
Indeed, Sly Fox hosts a very popular cyclocross race at the brewery, sponsors the Bikesport Racing Team, and is involved with a number of group rides including the Schuylkill River Heritage Area's ride to the brewery's free Can Jam Music Festival happening September 24, 2016.
