Thank You for a Very Memorable Bock Fest & Goat Race

The first Sunday in May is always such a festive time at the brewery, but 2020 had different plans.

May 17th marked our first (and hopefully last) virtual Bock Fest event.

So, with lockdown orders in place, we set about planning an online version of everyone’s favorite Sly Fox event.

Of course, the weather on May 3 was perfect just as it was on May 17, the date of our first (and hopefully last) virtual event, but that didn’t stop hundreds of you from ordering up growlers of bock beer and Sly Fox food and gathering around screens to cheer on your goats!

Participants that ordered a 2020 Bock Fest shirt were able to select and name a goat in one of five heats that would race throughout the event. This year’s Sly Fox Maibock was named for the winning virtual goat, cans of which became available at our pubs the Friday following the event. Tripp Exotic Maibock is still available in 6-packs and cases at our pubs, and a big congratulations to Tripp Exotic and Dean Schoendorfer who won a VIP experience to the 2021 Bock Festival!

We sold over 290 shirts helping us to make a $1,485 donation to Hospitality Assistance Response of PA (HARP).

HARP provides immediate emergency funding to hospitality workers and is committed to aiding hospitality workers who have suffered from the COVID-19 crisis.

In between virtual goat races, online festival attendees were treated to performances from fest favorite Alex Mexiner and his wild accordion plus several compelling features like the debut of the Sly Fox Bock Fest Hall of Fame in which Peggy the three-legged back-to-back champion was the inaugural inductee! The event culminated with a 10-minute slide show showcasing 21 years of festival tradition at three different Sly Fox Brewing Company locations. You can still watch the entire festival on Facebook.
