STANDARD ALE, BRITISH PALE ALE & PLACEBO WILL BE ON THE HANDPUMPS ON MARCH 14 AS SLY FOX CELEBRATES THE PHOENIXVILLE PUB CRAWL
Saturday, March 14 will be the day when Phoenixville solidifies its reputation as a great beer drinking town once and for all as the first, and hopefully annual, Phoenixville Pub Crawl lays down its marker as one of the major Philly Beer Week 2009 events.

The event, a linchpin in efforts by PBW organizers to spread the ten-day craft beer celebration into the suburbs, is backed by Main Street Phoenixville and was organized by Sly Fox brewmaster Brian O'Reilly and Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant director of brewing operations Mark Edelson. It will bring more than a dozen guest brewers to town at eight different venues that afternoon, 1-5pm, to meet and greet customers and share their beers with them.

The complete line-up of participating venues and brewers can be seen on our Sly Fox calendar. More details are also available here (scroll down for the listing).

Special guest at Sly Fox Phoenixville from 2-5pm will be William Reed, co-founder of the acclaimed Philadelphia gastropub, The Standard Tap, who formulated and brewed Standard Ale with O'Reilly for the initial PBW in 2008 and returned to make a larger batch this year because of the cask-conditioned beer's great popularity. Standard Ale will be featured on one of the pub's three handpumps for the Pub Crawl, along with British Pale Ale (brewed as the Fifth Anniversary beer for TJ's Drinkery & Eatery in Paoli) and Placebo, the new beer made from the second runnings of Panacea Barleywine.
